Training & Implementation

At Segway of Chicago our training course is second to none.  With every law enforcement purchase, we offer free of charge training for 2 officers.  Our normal training course takes approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours of intensive training which covers all aspects of the Segway, as well as the obstacles you may encounter while patrolling in an outside environment then transitioning to an inside environment without ever stepping off your Segway.

We also offer a comprehensive “Train The Trainer” program to law enforcement, which certifies 2 officers so they can provide training to additional officers within their department.  This program adds an additional 1 1/2 to 2 hours of normal training.  The number 1 goal of our training is to stress the importance of  “SAFETY”.  While it is extremely easy to adapt yourself to the way the Segway operates, there is an abundance of knowledge Segway of Chicago can pass along during your training session. Officers will learn how to use the Segway PT for foot patrols, surveillance, pursuit, and security checks.

One of the added benefits is community interaction. Due to higher visibility and approachability, community policing is greatly enhanced on the Segway PT.  We will teach you how to transition curbs, grass, ramps, uneven terrain, parking lots, impediments, dirt paths, gravel and many other surfaces you may encounter. The Segway PT handles them all.  Upon completion of either type of training all officers who participate will be issued a certificate for the type of training they have completed.
